Meet Cameron and Sandra...
We
had been searching for a church home and were discouraged
by the "traditional" choices available. We wanted a place
to belong; a place to serve; a place that had the presence
and the true spirit of the living God. At the suggestion
of our teenage son, Jay, we stopped in one Friday evening
to hear the music at the Jesus Coffeehouse.
That was two years ago, and we've been coming back ever
since.
At first we were somewhat intimidated - the Coffeehouse
was so far outside of anything we had ever known that
we weren't sure how to get involved. But we took the
time to get to know Tom and Bonnie, as well as some
of the Coffeehouse patrons and volunteers, and quickly
realized God had given us what we had asked for. The
Jesus coffeehouse IS the gospel in action, and we found
more than a home and a place to serve, we found love
and faith and a safe place to heal and grow in our walk
with the Lord.
Cameron soon found himself playing bass guitar at the
Coffeehouse with Bonnie, and not long after, Sandra
joined in and began singing with them. Shortly thereafter,
we became board members, started volunteering when the
coffeehouse opened during the days, and began watching
the awesome power of God's love transform people's lives
- both the people who come to the Coffeehouse as well
as those who donate and/or volunteer. When you walk
into the Coffeehouse, you can't help but feel the presence
of God and be affected by it. We thank God everyday
that He has allowed us the privilege of being a part
of it.
